More than $2.75 million cash has been seized by NSW Police, and a South Australian man charged, following a targeted search of a truck near Goulburn yesterday.
Acting on information, highway patrol officers from the Criminal Groups Squad's Strike Force Raptor, approached a prime mover parked at a service station at Yass Valley Way, Yass, about 10.15pm (Thursday 16 April 2020), and spoke with the male driver.
The vehicle was searched with the assistance of the State Crime Command's Drug and Firearms Squad, and Australian Border Force (ABF), with officers locating five shopping bags containing more than $2.75 million cash.
Officers also seized a mobile phone, electronic equipment and an amount of cannabis from the cabin area of the vehicle.
All items seized during the investigation will undergo forensic testing.
The 52-year-old South Australian man was arrested and taken to Goulburn Police Station, where he was charged with recklessly deal with proceeds of crime and possess prohibited drug.
Police will allege in court that the man was transporting more than $2.75 million cash between Adelaide and Sydney.
He was refused bail to appear at Goulburn Local Court today (Friday 17 April 2020).
