NSW SES led team takes out second place at NSW Road Crash Rescue competition

NSW SES

Teams from around the state converged in Dubbo on the weekend to hone their road crash rescue and general land rescue skills. SES teams from Port Macquarie, Port Stephens, Batemans Bay and Hawkesbury attend and put their skills against teams from Fire Rescue NSW and even Werribee CFA (Victoria).

The challenge was held over 3 days allowing teams to not only have hands on and complete simulated rescue stands, but also a learning symposium on the Friday.

"It was great to see teams from all the agencies coming together for the event. While we all take this role seriously, it is training like this that not only grows skills, but also gives the participants a chance to see how they are really going through peer review" said Daniel Kenner Exercise Capability Coordinator.

Crews took it on turns during the competition on a number of stands. These included, simulated rescuing people from vehicles, rescue from industrial accident and also first aid scenarios.

The team from Port Macquarie, with four NSW SES members, one member from NSW Ambulance and one member from the VRA doing very well. They were awarded second place over all for the competition, with some impressive section wins with;

Overall 1st place NSW team

Overall 1st place SES Team

CPR Challenge 1st Place Team.

While this was an impressive effort, the overall first place for the competition went to Werribee CFA (Victoria) this year. Congrats!

We look forward to the competition next year in Tamworth.
