An Alexandria woman had a whirlwind of emotions after winning a staggering $1.7 million in the Saturday Lotto. The Sydney woman, whose identity remains undisclosed, was one of the six lucky division one winners in the draw conducted on November 11, 2023.
The woman recounted her night to lotto officials, detailing the moment of realization.
"I woke up just after midnight on Saturday and couldn’t understand why I couldn’t get back to sleep. That’s when I rolled over and thought, 'I guess I should check my Saturday Lotto ticket.'"
This decision led to a sleepless night filled with disbelief and joy.
"My eyes grew wide, my jaw hit the floor and I wanted to scream but I couldn’t because I didn’t want to wake the whole house up," she recounted.
Initially thinking it was a joke, the woman had to double-check each number to confirm her win.
"I just feel so grateful because it’s going to change my life!" she exclaimed.
The newfound millionaire plans to use her winnings to help her family, invest, and prepare for the future, calling it "such a blessing."
Her winning six-game entry was purchased online at thelott.com, the official home of Australia’s lotteries, highlighting the increasing trend of online lottery participation.
The winning numbers for the Saturday Lotto draw 4415 were 2, 1, 30, 28, 24, and 23, with supplementary numbers 39 and 29.
