Northern Territory Police can confirm a 60-year-old man who has been missing near Santa Teresa has tragically been located deceased this afternoon.
The man was found at 1:40pm about 10 kilometres from where he was last seen on Phillipson Bore Road on Wednesday evening when he was washed off the roof of a vehicle by floodwaters.
Police, supported by the Police Air Wing and Northern Territory Emergency Service volunteers, had been conducting an extensive search and rescue operation in the area since the man was reported missing on Thursday morning.
The search continued near Santa Teresa with crews covering difficult terrain in an effort to locate him.
Police will prepare a report for the Northern Territory Coroner.
Our thoughts are with the man's family and friends at this very difficult time.
Northern Territory Police thanks all police, Air Wing and NTES members involved in the search.
