Spirit of Tasmania will today mark a historic milestone in Bass Strait travel, as Spirit of Tasmania IV departs Geelong and Spirit of Tasmania V departs Devonport on their inaugural passenger sailings.
The simultaneous departures signal the beginning of a new era for Tasmania's vital sea link, introducing the largest and most advanced vessels ever operated by Spirit of Tasmania and ushering in greater capacity, enhanced onboard experiences and increased freight capability across Bass Strait.
The maiden voyages represent one of the most significant milestones in the company's history, strengthening Tasmania's connection to mainland Australia, while supporting future growth in tourism, trade and regional economies.
Designed to showcase the very best of Tasmania, the next-generation vessels feature contemporary accommodation, expanded passenger and vehicle capacity, and a range of new dining and lounge experiences celebrating Tasmanian produce, craftsmanship and creativity.
The new ships can carry an additional 470 passengers per sailing and feature 301 cabins, including family, deluxe, accessible and pet-friendly accommodation options, alongside significantly increased vehicle and freight capacity.
