NT Covid update - CHO Direction changes

NT Government

Changes are being made today to Chief Health Officer (CHO) COVID-19 Directions regarding The Vaccine Pass and public events.

These changes are in line with the Territory's progression to living with COVID-19, and include:

Sporting events

Proof of vaccination is no longer needed to attend a sporting venue when participating in, or watching sport or exercise. These changes were implemented as a priority to provide clarification about access to sporting venues and ensure the community continues to engage in sport and exercise.

Patrons are still required to show their Vaccine Pass when purchasing alcohol at sporting venues. The Vaccine Pass remains in place at licensed sporting clubs.

The CHO continues to assess the use of the Vaccine Pass at other venues where it is currently in place, such as bars, pubs, nightclubs, restaurants, casinos, cinemas and theatres.

Public events

Proof of vaccination is no longer required at public events of over 500 people in major population centres, and public events over 100 people outside major centres.

Patrons are still required to show their Vaccine Pass when purchasing alcohol at a public event.

CHO approval is no longer required to undertake public events, but a COVID-19 safety plan and safety supervisor must still be in place for events of over 1,000 people in major population centres, and public events over 500 people outside major centres.

The CHO will continue to review and update COVID-19 Directions as required.
