As part of its year of growth, certainty and security, the Finocchiaro CLP Government has launched the NT Aboriginal Affairs Framework.

The 2026-2028 Framework delivers a clear, unified approach across government to drive better outcomes for Aboriginal Territorians.

Minister for Aboriginal Affairs Steve Edgington said the Framework outlines the CLP Government's vision for delivering improved outcomes for Aboriginal Territorians.

The Framework outlines six strategic priorities to: Create Safer Communities, Empower Bush Communities, Create Jobs and Business on Country, Boost Health, Wellbeing and Culture, Build Community Foundations and Develop Skills for the Future.

Creating safer communities - through place-based preventative approaches, including diversion, rehabilitation and reintegration and stronger local safety partnerships.Empowering bush communities - supporting community-led decision making, cultural authority and local governance to drive local priorities and change.Creating jobs and business on country - embedding Aboriginal economic participation within the Territory's economic growth agenda, including though infrastructure, energy, mining, agriculture and tourism.Boosting health, wellbeing and culture - recognising that culture, language and connection to country are essential to long-term wellbeing.Building community foundations - particularly housing and infrastructure, as enablers of safety, health, education and economic participation.Developing skills for the future - strengthening education, training and pathways from school to work so Aboriginal Territorians can fully participate in the Territory's economic future.

"Together, these priorities drive real action to deliver safer communities, stronger jobs and education outcomes, and healthier, happier lives for Aboriginal Territorians.

"The CLP is focused on practical outcomes that deliver real change and make a genuine difference on the ground," Mr Edgington said.

The Framework sets clear direction for NT Government agencies to embed Aboriginal affairs across their core business, operations, funding and accountability.

It reinforces that improving outcomes is a shared responsibility across the public sector.

This is a practical blueprint to drive consistency, strengthen delivery and achieve real results.

The Framework includes a clear "how-to" guide that supports agencies to embed Aboriginal affairs into policy, programs and day-to-day operations.

The Framework aligns with the NT Government's three pillars - Reducing Crime, Rebuilding the Economy and Restoring the Territory Lifestyle - delivering one clear, unified approach to Aboriginal affairs across all agencies.
