NT Launches Aboriginal Tourism Business Accelerator

NT Government

Nineteen Aboriginal tourism businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs across the Northern Territory will take part in the NT Aboriginal Tourism Business Accelerator Program. The program, which launched on Monday 16 February, is supporting the growth of new and innovative Territory Aboriginal tourism product and experiences.

Returning for a third round, the program aims to expand the Territory's rich and diverse Aboriginal tourism offerings and strengthen visitor experiences that encourage travellers to explore the NT and stay longer.

The Accelerator Program is a partnership between the NT Department of Tourism and Hospitality and Indigenous Business Australia (IBA), with support of the Australian Government Strategic Indigenous Tourism Project funding program (SITP).

The program is designed to continue strengthening the Territory's spirit by empowering Aboriginal business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs with the tools, skills and support needed to grow sustainable tourism businesses and create new Aboriginal tourism product and experiences.

Participants will receive business and tourism training with hands-on practical skills, access to experienced business advisors, a personal business coach, and introductions to key industry networks. This support helps build strong foundations for long-term business success.

A public expression of interest was conducted in November 2025, attracting more than 20 applications.

The program commenced 16 February 2026 in Alice Springs and continues with monthly face-to-face week-long intensive workshops delivered through to June 2026. The program will culminate in a tourism product pitch to key tourism stakeholders and industry representatives. Participants will continue to receive one-on-one business coaching through to October 2026.
