Northern Territory Police have made an arrest in relation to an aggravated robbery in Katherine over the weekend.
Just before midnight on Saturday 6 April, the Joint Emergency Service Communication Centre (JESCC) received reports of a group of youths trying to gain entry to a service station along Katherine Terrace.
It is alleged that 6 youths used rocks to target the front sliding doors and proceeding to push them off the rails before entering the store and stealing a number of small items.
A male employee was able to safely remove himself to the back staff room until police attendance.
Following recent burglaries of service stations in Katherine, detectives from the Katherine Criminal Investigation Branch, Serious Crime Unit and general duties have commenced regular proactive night patrols in attempt to deter criminal activity.
A 13-year-old has since been arrested and charged with aggravated burglary.
Katherine Criminal Investigation Branch are expecting make further arrests regarding the matter.
Detective Senior Sergeant Michael Ordelman said, "Information provided by members of the community proved to be very significant in this matter.
"Detectives are continuing to make enquiries to identify further offenders."
