Police can confirm two people have died following a crash in Hikurangi earlier today.
The crash involving two vehicles on State Highway 1, near King Street was reported just after 3pm.
One person died at the scene, a second person died in hospital a short time later.
Two other people sustained injuries in the crash, one serious and one minor.
State Highway 1 has since reopened following the crash.
