Emergency services are attending a serious crash on State Highway One, Kaitaia.
Police were alerted to the two-vehicle crash between Fairburn Rd and Clough Rd at around 5:10pm.
Initial reports state there are serious injuries and a helicopter is responding.
The road is closed between Takahue Rd and Ruaroa Rd.
Motorists are advised to expect delays or to avoid the area.
