NZ police arrest man over Westmere incident

Police have this afternoon arrested a man believed to have been involved in an incident in Westmere early this morning.

At around 5.45am today, Police were made aware of an altercation between the occupants of two vehicles on William Denny Avenue in Westmere.

One of the occupants was reported to have been in possession of a firearm.

Police observed a vehicle of interest being driven on the Southern Motorway at around 2.30pm today.

The vehicle was monitored by Eagle until it came to a stop in Khyber Pass Road at 2.50pm.

The male driver and female passenger were taken into custody.

A replica firearm was located in the vehicle.

Enquiries into the incident in Westmere this morning are ongoing and no charges have been laid at this stage.
