As stated by Acting Detective Inspector Lloyd Schmid, Northland CIB:
Northland Police investigating the death of 4-week-old Maree Takuira Mita Ngahere have charged a man with her murder.
The 22-year-old man faces one charge of murder. He also faces a charge of assault on a child, in relation to a separate matter.
The man is due to appear in the Kaitaia District Court tomorrow.
