One person has died following the two-vehicle crash on SH2, Pongakawa, about 5.40pm this evening.
Another person is reported to have sustained moderate injuries.
The road is expected to remain closed for some time.
Diversions are currently in place at SH2/Maniatutu Road and SH2/Pongakawa School Road.
Please continue to avoid the area if possible.
