NZ police make arrest after plaque thefts

A 41-year-old woman has been arrested following the theft of dozens of plaques from Springston Cemetery in Christchurch.

The incident was reported to Police on Monday 6 May.

A week later, Police recovered 17 plaques that had been sold to a Christchurch-based scrap dealer.

The woman was arrested yesterday after allegedly selling another 32 plaques to a second scrap dealer.

She has been charged with theft and is due to appear in Christchurch District Court today.
