Police are seeking witnesses to a fatal crash on State Highway 34 (Kawerau Road West) between State Highway 30 and Kawerau.
The two-vehicle-crash occurred shortly after 5pm, Friday April 26.
The male driver of the northbound vehicle died at the scene and the driver of the other vehicle sustained moderate injuries.
Initial indications are that the northbound vehicle crossed the centreline and collided with the oncoming vehicle.
Both vehicles sustained extensive damage.
