Offender Listed on Child Protection Site

The Queensland Police Service (QPS) advises that a child sex offender who has not met their reporting obligations and whereabouts are unknown has been published on the Child Protection Disclosure website under the provisions of Daniel's Law.

The publication is part of QPS's commitment to strengthening child safety through lawful, controlled and risk-informed release of relevant information about reportable offenders to eligible members of the community.

Details of the missing reportable offender including their photo, name and year of birth are published on the Queensland Community Protection website: www.danielslaw.qld.gov.au

Crime Command Acting Detective Superintendent Stephen Blanchfield said missing reportable offenders are published on the Daniel's Law website only following a detailed risk assessment and in line with legislative requirements.

"A missing reportable offender means a person has failed to comply with their ongoing reporting obligations and their whereabouts are currently unknown or not able to be verified by police," Acting Detective Superintendent Blanchfield said.

"This information is published to assist members of the community to make informed decisions where there is a legitimate child protection need."

Acting Detective Superintendent Blanchfield stressed that members of the public must not attempt to locate, approach, or engage with the reportable offender.

"If the person is sighted in the community, do not approach them," Acting Detective Superintendent Blanchfield said.

"Instead, sightings or information about their whereabouts should be reported to Policelink on 131 444 or Triple Zero (000) in an emergency, referring to the 'QP' number provided on the webpage alongside the offender's personal details.

"Any information provided by the public may assist police in locating the reportable offender safely and lawfully."

Members of the public are also reminded that information published under Daniel's Law must not be used to harass, intimidate or target any individual. Misuse of information may constitute a criminal offence.

QPS continues to encourage the community to remain vigilant and to report any information regarding the whereabouts of a disclosed reportable offender, or any suspected breaches of reporting obligations, to police or Policelink.
