Gracemere's Cedric Archer Park Tennis courts have reopened with the addition of pickleball serving up even more ways for the community to play!
Council's $150,000 upgrade to the two courts included resurfacing and line-marking to allow for dual use, complementing the wide range of recreational facilities on offer at the precinct.
The regional recreation hub already boasts netball and basketball courts, a pump track and rugby league fields, a swimming pool, as well as water play, barbecues and gardens.
Parks Sport and Public Spaces Councillor Cherie Rutherford said the upgrade of the courts was great news for Gracemere residents.
"This is one of our fastest growing regional centres, so to be able to return these courts to use after so many years is a significant win for Council and the community," Cr Rutherford said.
"We know that tennis is an enduring sport, but with pickleball one of the fastest growing sports across Australia it really is good news for the young and mature."
Divisional Councillor Edward Oram said he had been championing this project for some time.
"Gracemere continues to grow year after year, so repairing and reopening these courts for community use makes perfect sense," Cr Oram said.
"The upgrades not only provide families with more opportunities to stay active outdoors, but with so much on offer at Cedric Archer Park, it also creates a fantastic space for friends and families to come together and connect."
The courts are available for use from 6am to 8pm daily and must be booked in advance. The courts are closed and locked outside booked hours.
