A leading senior constable from Transit and Public Safety Command has been charged following an internal investigation.
The female officer has been charged with one count of common law assault.
It is alleged the incident occurred in Melbourne's CBD last year while the officer was on duty.
The 53-year-old was charged on summons and will appear at a magistrates' court at a later date.
