Officer charged - South West Metropolitan Region 6 June

A police officer has been charged following an investigation by the Professional Standards Command.

In December 2022, Strike Force Lifebuoy was formed by the Professional Standards Command to investigate an incident involving a serving police officer attached to the South West Metropolitan Region.

Following extensive inquiries, the 25-year-old male constable was arrested today (Tuesday 6 June 2023) and taken to Newtown Police Station.

He was charged with use carriage service to solicit child abuse material and groom child for unlawful sexual activity.

The officer was granted conditional bail and is due to appear before Downing Centre Local Court on Friday 7 July 2023.

His employment status is currently under review.
