The Secretary General's Special Representative for the Southern Neighbourhood, Mr Javier Colomina, returned to Nouakchott, Mauritania for an official visit on 8 October 2026. He met with Mauritania's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Ould Merzoug, the Minister of Defence, Mr Ould Sidi, the Deputy Chief of Defence, Major General Mohamed Cheikh Beidda, and other senior representatives of the General Staff of the Armed Forces. He also met with Allied Ambassadors.
