An officer has been charged over an alleged assault in Sydney's south west last year.
About 9.15am on Sunday 5 October 2025, police engaged in a pursuit in the Mount Pritchard area. The vehicle involved in the pursuit evaded police but was later located parked in the driveway of a St Johns Park home.
Shortley after 10.10am the same day, a 38-year-old sergeant attended the property to conduct inquiries into the vehicle.
While police were on scene, a crime scene was established and two men were arrested.
As the officer was escorting one of the men to a police vehicle, he allegedly pushed him into the side of a vehicle parked in the driveway.
The man was then transported to Cabramatta Police Station.
Following extensive enquiries, yesterday (Friday 25 September 2026), the sergeant – who is attached to South West Metropolitan Region command – was issued a Future Court Attendance Notice for the charge of common assault.
He is due to appear before Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday 11 November 2026.
The officer's employment status remains under review.
