Officer charged - Specialist Command 31 December

An off-duty police officer has been charged with drink-driving in Sydney's CBD.

About 7.10am today (Thursday 31 December 2020), officers from Surry Hills Traffic and Highway Patrol were conducting stationary drug and alcohol testing on the Bradfield Highway, Millers Point, when they stopped a vehicle travelling north.

The driver, a 49-year-old senior constable attached to a specialist command, was breath tested and returned a positive reading.

He was arrested and taken to Surry Hills Police Station where a breath analysis returned an alleged reading of 0.080.

A Court Attendance Notice was served for drive with middle range PCA and his licence was suspended.

He is due to appear at the Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday 4 February 2021.

The officer will be placed on restricted non-operational duties.
