Officer injured, Inala

A male acting senior constable was seriously injured this afternoon at Inala as two officers were attempting to talk to a man.

It will be alleged that police were in an Anzac Avenue shopping centre at around 2.10pm and were speaking with the man when without warning he picked up a pair of scissors from a nearby shop bench and swung them at police.

The senior constable was struck and stabbed in the shoulder / neck area. The second officer tasered the man which momentarily incapacitated him before he ran off.

The officer provided immediate first aid to her injured colleague before he was treated by the Queensland Ambulance Service and transported to hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Multiple police units attended the scene, including Polair and the dog squad.

Police attended a home in Clipper Street, Inala around 3.15pm responding to a triple zero (000) call about a man allegedly armed with a shovel attempting to steal a car and threatening the occupants of a house.

It will be alleged the man threatened officers and was taken into custody after a taser was deployed.

The occupants of the house were uninjured and police investigations are continuing.
