Officers assaulted in warrant arrest in Bathurst

Two police officers have been allegedly assaulted during the arrest of a man wanted on warrants at Bathurst, NSW Police say.

Officers attached to Traffic & Highway Patrol Command were patrolling Gormans Hill, about 5.15pm today, when they saw a 20-year-old man riding a bicycle along Gormans Hill Road.

When police recognised the man was wanted on an outstanding conviction warrant and attempted to arrest him, the man allegedly punched them.

The man was taken to Bathurst Police Station where he was charged with

• Assault police (two counts)

• Resist arrest (two counts)

• Breach of bail, and

• Outstanding warrant of conviction.

The man was refused bail to appear in Bathurst Bail Court tomorrow.

The officers were not seriously injured.
