Officers Not Impressed By Speedster In Gordon

Ballarat Highway Patrol officers have impounded a car in Gordon this evening as part of Operation Furlong.
Officers clocked the car travelling at an alleged speed of 171km/h in a 110km/h zone on the Western Highway about 8.50pm.
The Toyota 86 was impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1405.
The 29-year-old driver had his licence immediately suspended for a period of 12 months and will be summonsed to appear at court for a number of charges including speed dangerous and careless driving.
The man told police he just wanted to show the car off to his father, who was a passenger in the car.
Operation Furlong is a statewide road policing operation taking place over the Melbourne Cup long weekend.
Motorists can expect to see police highly visible and enforcing across the state's roads in an effort to reduce road trauma.
There will be a significant focus on major roads heading to areas in regional Victoria, with police on the lookout for speeding and distraction offences.
Motorists should expect to be tested anywhere, any time for alcohol and drugs, with significant penalties in place for those caught driving while impaired.
Operation Furlong commences at 12:01am on Friday 31 October and concludes at 11:59pm on Tuesday 4 November.
