The Honourable Rob Oliphant, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, today announced that he will travel to Vienna, Austria, to represent Canada at the 32nd Ministerial Council meeting of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) from December 4 to 5, 2025.
Convened under Finland's chairpersonship, the Ministerial Council will bring together senior government officials from across the OSCE region to address pressing security challenges and reinforce the organization's critical role in promoting stability, accountability and democratic resilience in the Euro-Atlantic area. Parliamentary Secretary Oliphant will underscore Canada's unwavering support for Ukraine as it continues to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity in the face of Russia's ongoing illegal aggression.
While in Vienna, Parliamentary Secretary Oliphant will take part in discussions focused on strategic issues that impact Canadian security and prosperity, including human rights, countering disinformation, regional connectivity and the protection of vulnerable populations affected by conflict. He will also engage in events addressing the return of Ukrainian children illegally transferred and deported by Russia, the advancement of women, peace and security, and efforts to strengthen democracy in Belarus and Georgia.
On the margins of the OSCE meetings, Parliamentary Secretary Oliphant will hold bilateral discussions with key partners to advance shared security and cooperation priorities.
