Olympian Cedric Dubler Explores Winning Well

Olympic Cedric Dubler has used his European summer to catch up with some fellow Australian athletes to learn how they Win Well.

Win Well is Australian high performance sport's commitment to sustainable success in the lead up to Brisbane 2032 and beyond. It combines the aspiration to win and be world's best with a sporting culture that is safe, fair and puts people first.

Dubler's extraordinary sportsmanship in the decathlon at the Tokyo Games - when he sacrificed his own race to encourage teammate Ash Moloney to an historic bronze medal - is immortalised in the Win Well Strategy document.

Now he has been crisscrossing the continent to find out what it means for other athletes to Win Well, including Olympic silver medal winning beach volleyballer Taliqua Clancy in Utrecht in the Netherlands and Olympic discus bronze medallist Matt Denny in Turku Finland.

"This series is not about the medal moments, it's about the human behind the performance, what drives them, how they train and the mindset it takes to do it well," Dubler said.

"I think Win Well is really important because when you're succeeding, everything is easy. But when you hit a speed bump, that's when it's important to have that environment and support around you that helps you rise back to the top.

"Winning Well isn't about the medals, it's about doing it with integrity and purpose while staying true to who you are."
