Olympic Way reopened after protest activity, SA

Police have reopened Olympic Way, Roxby Downs to traffic after protesters lit a bonfire on the roadway, blocking the road, yesterday morning, according to SA Police.

About 10.30pm on Sunday 3 July, Police, assisted by Roxby Downs CFS, extinguished the fire that was lit by protestors at 6.30am that morning. Minor damage was caused to the road surface.

The protesters eventually returned to the camp without further incident.

About 1am on Monday 4 July, the road was cleared and sufficiently cooled to be reopened to traffic.

Over the last few days of the protest Police have gone to considerable effort to facilitate lawful protest activity and are disappointed with the actions of some protesters.
