On Road again

The National Heavy Vehicle Charging Pilot has restarted face to face engagement with industry. Feedback and contact with industry and trial participants is an important aspect of the program. Over the last few months we have attended the Australian Local Government Association (ALGA) National General Assembly in June in Canberra, as well as presenting at the National Bulk Tanker Association conference in Melbourne and Crane Industry Council of Australia regional conference in Bendigo in August.

Later this year we will be attending the NatRoad Conference on the Gold Coast in October, the Bus Industry Confederation National Conference in Brisbane in November, as well as the ALGA National Local Roads and Transport Congress in Hobart also in November. These events are an opportunity to engage with the Department's representatives, gain further information and enroll in the National Pilot.

We will use the opportunity to visit participants from Queensland and Tasmania who are enrolled in Phase 2 (distance-based charging using hubodometers and mock permits) and/or Phase 3 (distance, mass and configuration-based charging using telematics and mock invoices). This will provide an opportunity to get feedback from those already taking part in Phase 2 and answer any questions about Phase 3.

The National Heavy Vehicle Charging Pilot team values the opportunity to further understand the daily challenges faced by our participants and different sectors of the industry.
