One dead in two-vehicle crash south of Camden

A person has died following a crash in south-west Sydney a short time ago.

Officers from Camden Police Area Command were called to Menangle Road at Douglas Park (4km east of the intersection with Picton Road), about 4.20am (Monday 11 September 2023), after two vehicles collided in the eastbound lane.

The male driver of the westbound ute escaped; however, a back-seat passenger was unable to be released before the vehicle caught fire. That person died at the scene.

A man driving the eastbound vehicle escaped with arm injuries. He was the only occupant.

Officers attached to the Crash Investigation Unit are en route to the scene.

Menangle Road is expected to be closed for some hours.
