One man arrested after serious assault in Melton

Brimbank Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested a man following an alleged assault in Melton this morning.

Investigators responded to reports of three men fighting on High Street around 1.15am.

During the scuffle, one of the men allegedly produced a knife and stabbed another man.

A 41-year-old Melton man was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening upper-body injuries and the two other men left the scene on a motorcycle.

A short time later, police arrested a 21-year-old Kurunjang man in Kurunjang.

The third man remains outstanding.

The exact circumstances of the incidents are yet to be determined and the investigation is ongoing, however police believe the three men are known to each other.
