Online Aged Care Q&A forum planned for 9 March at Mildura

Mildura Rural City Council will hold an online Q&A and information session on Wednesday 9 March from 7:30pm to 8:30pm to provide an update on the future provision of Aged & Disability Services in our region.

The session will form part of a wider consultation process currently underway following an in-principle decision by Council to investigate a transition out of service delivery.

The move follows significant aged care industry reforms, which will see Council's current contracts to deliver services on behalf of the Commonwealth Government end in June 2023.

The Commonwealth's impending end to current Aged Care programs, and transition to a new model of care, has triggered a need for Council to determine if it is in the best interests of the community to continue as a provider of aged care services.

Should a decision be made to exit out of Aged Care services, Council will then work closely with the State and Commonwealth Governments – and new providers – to ensure a smooth transition for staff and clients.

Council has already begun consultation with clients and staff, with the March online forum to provide the wider community with a chance to ask questions and find out more about the Commonwealth's new Support at Home model.
