Almost 900,000 Aussie kids have completed almost three million online NAPLAN tests, that will give students, parents and teachers a clear picture of how they are performing.
Students from more than 9000 schools nationwide took part in the tests online in recent weeks, as part of the shift to all schools doing online testing from next year.
Minister for Education and Youth Alan Tudge said this year's results would be particularly important after NAPLAN testing was cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"This is an important development and it will enable results to be provided to schools and parents more quickly so that action can be taken where required as a consequence." Minister Tudge said.
"This year's results will also help us better understand how COVID disruptions last year impacted students.
"I wont be bowing to those who want to scrap NAPLAN. If anything, I want to look at ways to strengthen our national testing, so it give us more comprehensive data.
"For many parents, the NAPLAN results provide the clearest indicator to how their child is going at school.
"NAPLAN Online provides better assessment, more precise results and, once all schools are online, a faster turnaround of information benefiting students, teachers and parents."
NAPLAN results for this year are expected to be released by mid-September.
