Michael Daley and NSW Labor will deliver the Muswellbrook bypass and work to accelerate the construction of the Singleton bypass for the people of the Upper Hunter.
A NSW Labor Government will fully fund the Muswellbrook bypass and work with a Federal Labor Government to deliver the Singleton bypass.
Labor's decision to fund these projects will shorten the journey along the New England Highway and improve safety and the amenity of the Muswellbrook and Singleton CBDs. More than 3,700 trucks a day currently travel through Singleton which impacts on the existing road network, road safety, and on public amenity in the local community.
A Daley Labor government will allocate $266 million to the Muswellbrook bypass.
In addition, a Daley Labor Government will also allocate $100 million to accelerate the construction of the Singleton Bypass and to get the project shovel ready. This work will be done in partnership with a Federal Labor Government that will allocate $250 million to the Singleton Bypass.
State and Federal Labor's commitment to work together and properly fund and build both the Muswellbrook and Singleton bypasses stands in stark contrast to the National Party's failure to begin these projects."
In March 2015, the Nationals made a promise to the people of Upper Hunter that they would soon begin work on the Muswellbrook and Singleton bypasses.
Instead, the Nationals decided to spend $2.2 billion on stadiums in Sydney.
Four years later, neither project has been delivered by the Nationals but Deputy Premier John Barilaro is again promising the Muswellbrook Bypass for the 2019 election.
Last month, Nationals' Deputy Leader John Barilaro was in Muswellbrook and said the project wasn't on the National Party's agenda when it was revealed it could be another six to eight years before work was complete. Mr Barilaro said the project was an issue for local officials.
Mr Barilaro was quoted in the Muswellbrook Chronicle as saying, "It isn't on the agenda…it's on the agenda of the council".
NSW Shadow Minister for Roads, Maritime and Freight Jodi McKay said, "This project is on our agenda, and is on Federal Labor's agenda. State and Federal Labor will work to build this project, unlike the Nationals who just overpromise and under-deliver.
"Our priorities are clear, we will build the Muswellbrook and Singleton bypasses in partnership with Federal Labor. The Nationals and Liberals will spend $2.2 billion on Sydney stadiums and can't be trusted to deliver on this project".

NSW Country Labor Candidate for Upper Hunter Melanie Dagg said "The Nationals first promised this to the people of the Upper Hunter in 2015, the Deputy Premier said this project wasn't a priority for the Nationals just weeks ago.
"After years of overpromising and under-delivering from the Nationals, they just can't be trusted to build this project. State and Federal Labor, working together, will."
