Only Labor Will Deliver Suburban Rail Loop

VIC Premier

The Liberals have announced yet another position on the Suburban Rail Loop.

In March 2025, current Liberal Leader Brad Battin made a "captain's call" to "cancel" the Suburban Rail Loop.

Yet the same day he said: "Our position is clear…we will pause and reassess the project."

Today, leadership aspirant Matthew Guy rejected a cancellation or a pause.

On radio, he said "If the project's commencing, the project goes ahead - it's as simple as that."

What a mess.

While this officially marks the eighth different policy the Liberals have had on the Suburban Rail Loop since 2022, it's the first one that's designed to undermine their leader.

It's now up to the divided Liberal Party to confirm how long their newest policy will stand. More than 3,000 Suburban Rail Loop workers and their families deserve the answer.

The Allan Labor Government has only ever had one position on the Suburban Rail Loop.

It is Australia's largest public transport and housing project.

It will slash travel times, take pressure off our outer suburbs, deliver 70,000 homes along the line, and connect families and communities to jobs, universities, and healthcare.

It makes sense for a city that will be the size of London by the 2050s.

And we're building it.
