Operation Xray Ember At Nanango

Police have charged 12 people including members of an Outlaw Motorcycle Gang (OMCG) with 40 drug, weapon and traffic related offences as part of Operation Xray Ember in the South Burnett.

The operation involving officers from Kingaroy and Nanango stations, Kingaroy Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), South West District Tactical Crime Squad, Taskforce Maxima and Organised Crime Gangs Group Highway Patrol, was conducted in Nanango over a three day period between 19-21 September.

Officers executed three search warrants, 91 roadside breath tests, resulting in one person charged with drink driving, 27 roadside drug tests resulting in 8 people returning a positive result and issued 19 traffic infringement notices (TIN's).

The operation also resulted in the seizure of four firearms and ammunition along with cannabis, methylamphetamine, restricted medications, drug utensils, knuckle dusters and a sling shot.

A 31-year-old Brooklands man has been charged with three counts of unlawful possession of a firearm and one count of possess explosives.

He is due to appear in the Kingaroy Magistrates Court on 31 October.

A 53-year-old Sandy Ridges man has been charged with four counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, two counts possess dangerous drug and one count of authority to possess explosives.

He is due to appear in the Kingaroy Magistrates Court on 31 October.

A 55-year-old Sandy Ridges man has been charged with four counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, two counts possess dangerous drugs and one count each of authority to possess explosives and possessing a restricted item.

Darling Downs District Officer Superintendent Doug McDonald said the operation is part of ongoing disruption and enforcement actions being held across the district to deter criminal activity.

"Illegal firearms and illicit drugs have no place in our community, and we will continue to target offenders and do everything we can to keep the community safe." said Superintendent McDonald.

"We urge anyone who has information about these types of offences to contact police."
