A man has been charged with operating a vessel while under the influence of alcohol on the Hawkesbury River, NSW Police say.
About 6pm yesterday (Saturday 10 November 2018), officers from Wisemans Ferry Police Station were conducting enforcement activities on the Hawkesbury River, targeting vessels attending a nearby music festival, when they stopped a vessel with five people on board.
The master of the vessel, a 44-year-old Mosman man, was breath tested, returning a positive result.
He was arrested and taken to Wisemans Ferry Police Station where he underwent a breath analysis, allegedly returning a reading of 0.100.
The man was charged with operate vessel with middle range PCA. He was issued a court attendance notice to appear at Windsor Local Court on Thursday 10 January 2019.
Chief Inspector Garry Sims, from Hawkesbury Police Area Command, warns all boat users not to drink alcohol if they are going to be in charge of a moving vessel.
"We are concerned about the risk to the safety of those on these waterways and will continue to conduct enforcement activities such as safety checks and breath testing," Chief Inspector Sims said.
