Optus Stadium honoured in postage stamp series

  • Australia Post releases new Sports Stadiums series including Optus Stadium
  • Series celebrates the important role sports play in Australian life
  • Series also features MCG, SCG and AAMI Park
  • Australia Post this week released a new series of stamps titled Sports Stadiums, celebrating sport's intrinsic place in the Australian way of life.

Sitting alongside some of Australia's most famous stadiums - the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Sydney Cricket Ground and AAMI Park - Optus Stadium is the newest sports stadium to be included.

The collection celebrates the role sports stadiums have in bringing thousands of like-minded people together to share in their passion for sport.

Sports stadiums are lasting structures that create their own unique history over time. Stadiums can give their city an identity, contributing to it economically, socially and visually.

Since opening in January 2018, Optus Stadium has received many accolades and prestigious design, architectural and catering awards, and is helping to make Perth a destination of choice for major events.

As stated by Sport and Recreation Minister Mick Murray:

"Under the McGowan Government's stewardship, Optus Stadium has gone from strength to strength. The stamp not only celebrates the terrific Optus Stadium, but also puts Perth's stunning skyline on display to the country.

"To be recognised alongside Australia's most historic and iconic sports venues is a deserved honour for Optus Stadium.

"Limited edition stamp series released by Australia Post are highly sought after and valued, and I'm sure the Sports Stadium series will enjoy the same standing."
