Optus strengthens network coverage for Lake Barrington

  • Optus switches on new tower to enhance mobile coverage for Lake Barrington residents and visitors to the world-class rowing course

Lake Barrington residents and visitors will benefit from improved mobile coverage as Optus switches on a new tower in the area.

As part of the Optus investment into the area, the new tower will improve the Optus network for the local community of Lake Barrington, Tasmanias premier international rowing venue. The lake often plays host to school rowing competitions with teams travelling across the state to compete.

The newly installed Optus-owned site, located on the hill overlooking Lake Barrington, will provide Optus customers with improved density of the mobile network and network capacity.

Alongside its world-class rowing facilities, Lake Barrington is a popular attraction year-round for Tasmanian families, tourists and adventure seekers with the new tower enabling visitors to easily stay connected including at Tazmazia, a unique attraction that brings thousands of visitors to the area.

Peter West, Optus Territory General Manager for Tasmania, is pleased to be providing the community with greater competition and choice through Optus network projects.

Were proud to be providing our customers with much-needed access to our network from the new Lake Barrington tower, Mr West said.

The introduction of a mobile tower for the first time near Lake Barrington will enable customers to take advantage of our amazing network.

The investment to expand Optus telecommunications infrastructure and mobile coverage is part of an ongoing project to improve coverage and reliability across the Optus mobile network throughout Tasmania.
