Orange City Council has partnered with social enterprise ZapCat to launch a free online tool that helps residents transition to all-electric homes, saving money, reducing emissions and improving comfort.
The ZapCat tool, available at zapcat.com.au/orange, provides instant, personalised estimates for the cost, savings and available rebates for a range of home energy upgrades, including:
· Solar panels and batteries
· Hot water heat pumps
· Reverse-cycle air conditioning
· Induction cooktops
· Electric vehicle chargers
· Insulation & draught proofing
· Energy efficiency
Orange City Council Sustainability Committee Chair Councillor David Mallard said the tool makes it easier for households to plan energy upgrades.
"Electrifying your home is one of the most impactful steps you can take to reduce your energy bills and improve thermal comfort," Cr Mallard said.
"This tool gives residents clear, independent information so they can make informed decisions."
Modern electric appliances are more efficient, safer and healthier, and with NSW's growing renewable energy supply, electric homes contribute to a cleaner, low-emissions future.
Rebates and incentives are also available to help reduce upfront costs.
The ZapCat tool is simple and accessible. Residents can get tailored cost estimates in just two minutes, with no obligation.
It also includes guides to help households understand the benefits of electrification and how to get started.
