The OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe in co-operation with the Committee for Women and Family Affairs under the Government of Tajikistan, held two training sessions to strengthen co-ordinated, multi-agency responses to domestic violence.
Conducted between 25-26 June 2026 in Bokhtar and 30 June-1 July 2026 in Khujand, the sessions brought together 41 representatives (27 women and 14 men) of key institutions involved in prevention and response efforts. These included internal affairs bodies and Gender Sensitive Police Units, women and family affairs authorities, youth and sports departments, civil registry offices, health services, religious affairs authorities, shelters, consultation rooms for perpetrators of domestic violence, as well as international and civil society organizations.
The trainings provided a platform to strengthen practical co-operation among institutions responsible for implementing the Law on Prevention of Domestic Violence, with a focus on improving prevention mechanisms and ensuring more effective protection and support for victims.
Discussions also centred on the implementation of the inter-agency instruction on co-ordinated response to domestic violence and victim protection. Participants exchanged views on the roles and responsibilities of different actors and explored ways to improve inter-agency co-ordination in practice.
The OSCE's support contributes to strengthening institutional capacity and co-operation among service providers in line with Tajikistan's commitments in preventing and combating violence against women, including domestic violence. The expected outcome is more timely, co-ordinated and effective assistance to victims, and improved protection of their rights as guaranteed under national legislation.
