The OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe supported a three-day training course on e-commerce for 25 staff members (eight women and 17 men) of the newly established Agency for Innovation and Digital Technologies under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan. The course took place in Dushanbe from 22 to 24 September 2026. It aimed to strengthen participants' knowledge of e-commerce and enhance their practical skills in this rapidly evolving field.
"E-commerce is creating new opportunities for businesses and consumers across Tajikistan. OSCE's partnership with the Agency for Innovation and Digital Technologies will help turn shared expertise into practical action and support the growth of an accessible and inclusive digital economy," said Karolyn Upham, Head of the Economic and Environmental Department at the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe.
The training was tailored to the needs of the Agency and its staff, who have diverse professional backgrounds. On the first day, participants explored the legal framework for e-commerce, Tajikistan's e-commerce market and practical fundamentals. The second day focused on cybersecurity, digital payments and business development in e-commerce. On the final day, participants discussed branding, marketing and cross-border e-commerce.
The course was developed following a needs assessment conducted by the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe in 2025. It responded to growing interest in e-commerce and the increasing importance of digital business models, online payment systems and cybersecurity. The training also supported the Agency's efforts to contribute to a secure and enabling digital business environment in Tajikistan, Central Asia and beyond.
