Otago MBA Leads NZ Online Rankings

The University of Otago – Ōtākou Whakaihu Waka online Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme has been recognised among the best in the world, according to new international rankings.

Announced yesterday, the QS Online MBA Rankings 2026 place Otago first in Aotearoa New Zealand, third in the Asia-Pacific region, and 51st out of 125 programmes across 27 countries in the world.

It is also first-equal in the world for classroom experience.

The rankings rate programmes from around the world on key indicators: faculty and teaching, class profile, employability and class experience.

Otago MBA Director and Head of Executive Programmes Associate Professor Tony Garry is thrilled Otago has been recognised once again.

"The nature of our online MBA means people from all over Aotearoa, and the world, can experience our engaging and interactive programme. We have the very best lecturers who work hard to ensure our tauira are ready to take their next steps in business."

The programme emphasises practical application of business theories through case studies, live cases and professional consulting engagements.

It was the first of its kind in Aotearoa when it launched in 2015, off the back of the on-campus MBA.

These results follow success earlier in the year when Otago was ranked 197= in the QS World University Rankings.
