Over $507,000 worth of Ice and cannabis seized after vehicle stop near Orange

A man has been charged with large commercial drug supply after almost 1.5kg of 'ice' and over half a kilogram of cannabis was seized from a vehicle in the state's Central West yesterday.

About 6.30pm (Thursday 19 March 2020), officers from Western Region Traffic and Highway Patrol stopped a Toyota Corolla on Mitchell Highway, Molong, about 35km north-west of Orange.

After speaking with the driver, detectives from Orana Mid-Western Police District conducted a search of the Corolla, and located – secreted in the door – 517 grams of cannabis and 1.47kg of methylamphetamine.

These prohibited drugs, which have an estimated potential street value of $7,000 and $500,000 respectively, were seized.

The 47-year-old male driver was arrested and taken to Orange Police Station.

He was charged with two counts of possess prohibited drug, supply prohibited drug (large commercial quantity) and supply prohibited drug.

The man was refused bail to appear before Orange Local Court today (Friday 20 March 2020).
