P-plater charged over aggravated burnout at Albury

A provisional driver has been charged over an alleged burnout incident in Albury overnight.

About 8pm (Thursday 11 February 2021), officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command allegedly witnessed a blue Ford Falcon utility conducting a burnout at the intersection of Vickers and Wagga roads, Lavington.

It's alleged other motorists were required to take action to avoid colliding with the utility.

The driver, an 18-year-old man, was issued with a Court Attendance Notice for aggravated burnout. His vehicle was defected, and his licence suspended.

The man is due to appear in Albury Local Court on Monday 29 March 2021.

Murray River Police District Commander, Superintendent Paul Smith, said behaviour like this on our roads is totally unacceptable.

"It is alarming to see a person behind the wheel of a car - particularly in a residential street - behaving in this manner," Supt Smith said.

"People should be able to use our roads safely and acts like this put people at risk."
