Pair Arrested in Weapons, Explosives Bust in California Gully

Bendigo Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested two people in California Gully this afternoon.

Investigators attended an address on Truscott Avenue about 10am as part of an ongoing investigation into over 30 offences in the area, including thefts, assaults, an attempted armed robbery and a burglary in the Bendigo area.

Detectives allegedly seized a number of items from the address including what appeared to be four explosive devices, which the Bomb Response Unit attended and deemed safe.

Officers also seized multiple weapons including machetes, knives and hammers.

The pair were arrested at the property and have since been interviewed in relation to the incidents.

The 32-year-old man has been charged with burglary, affray, recruit child to engage in criminal activity, manufacture unauthorised explosive and possess prohibited weapons (machete).

He was remanded to appear before Bendigo Magistrates' Court on 2 January.

The 41-year-old woman has been charged with theft and recruit child to engage in criminal activity.

She was bailed to appear before Bendigo Magistrates' Court on 27 April.
