Pair Charged After Ballarat East Armed Robberies

Ballarat Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man and a woman after a series of alleged armed robberies in Ballarat East on Sunday evening.

Investigators allege a man entered a Golden Point service station on Main Road and threatened a staff member with a knife about 7.15pm.

The man allegedly stole cash before taking off from the scene.

It is alleged the same man attended a laundromat a short time later and threatened two women and a child before stealing cash.

The man allegedly attended a bottle shop, a short time later, before threatening a staff member and taking off with cash and alcohol.

It is alleged the man was driven to and from the incidents by a woman.

Investigators arrested a 29-year-old man from George Town, Tasmania and a 27-year-old woman from George Town, Tasmania in Chewton today.

He was charged with armed robbery, theft, false imprisonment and possess prohibited weapon.

The woman was charged with armed robbery, theft and possess prohibited weapon.

Both have been remanded to appear at Ballarat Magistrates' Court on 29 October.
