Whitehorse Crime Investigation Unit detectives charged a man and a teenage girl after a man was allegedly seriously assaulted and stabbed in Burwood last night.
It is alleged the pair confronted the victim outside a fast-food outlet on Burwood Road just before 10pm.
The victim left the pair, all believed to be known to each other, for a short time before returning and then being set upon by the man and girl.
It is alleged the man sprayed the victim with a fire extinguisher before seriously assaulting and stabbing him. His jacket and bag were also allegedly stolen.
The victim, a 26-year-old Burwood man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
A 26-year-old Burwood man has been charged with armed robbery, intentionally cause serious injury, assault with a weapon, assault in company and commit indictable offence whilst on bail.
He will appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court this evening.
A 17-year-old girl has been charged with armed robbery, intentionally cause serious injury, assault with a weapon, assault in company and handle stolen goods.
She has been remanded to appear at a children's court.
