Pair charged after police car rammed in Reservoir

Police have charged two men after a police car was allegedly rammed in Reservoir overnight, Victoria Police say.

The officers observed a red Holden sedan displaying stolen registration plates on Beulah Street about 12.50am.

The vehicle stopped at a red traffic light on Camp Road and police pulled up in the lane next to the vehicle.

Police attempted to speak to the driver, who allegedly sped off through the traffic light and was last seen travelling east along Mahoneys Road

Another police unit then observed the vehicle parked in Moira Avenue in Reservoir about 1.15am and drove up behind it.

The vehicle then allegedly reversed the car into the stationary unmarked police vehicle.

The driver allegedly continued to accelerate his vehicle, spinning his tyres in an attempt to push the police vehicle out of the way.

The members got out of the car and the offending driver jumped over a nearby fence and ran off.

Police arrested four men, believed to be occupants of the vehicle, at the scene.

No one was injured during the incident.

Police continued to search for the offending driver and he was arrested a short time later at a property in Glenroy.

The 18-year-old Glenroy man has been charged with evade police, reckless conduct endanger serious injury, expose police officer to risk by driving, unlicensed driving and theft from motor vehicle.

He will face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.

A 19-year-old Glenroy man has been charged with theft from motor vehicle and commit indictable offence whilst on bail.

He has been bailed to appear at the Broadmeadows Magistrates’ Court on 18 January 2019.

The other three men arrested, a 23-year-old from Jacana, a 20-year-old from Jacana and a 21-year-old from Jacana, were all exonerated and released without charged.
